The Magellan is the new Mares travel BCD, an ultra-lightweight, durable, and foldable Mares jacket for your holiday.

Lightweight BCD for Travel, Compact and Foldable

The Magellan travel BCD impresses with innovative and lightweight materials and modern technologies such as the Mares Backmount System, patented shoulder straps, and extremely compact and travel-friendly packing size.

These compact dimensions are achieved thanks to the foldable backpack, which is 30% shorter when folded than a standard BCD.

To save weight, Mares has opted for very lightweight Cordura 420 material that is thin and extremely tear-resistant, deliberately avoiding heavy metal components in favour of shatterproof plastic and lightweight aluminium elements. The back section of the Magellan weighs 40% less thanks to its clever honeycomb structure. Thus, the dive jacket in size S/M only weighs an incredible 2.1kg – a perfect Mares travel jacket!

Mares BCD with Comfortable Fit and Good Stability

Although a conventional backplate is absent in the Mares Magellan to keep the jacket lightweight and compact, your back is still well protected by a high-quality padding. The ergonomically shaped, concave shoulder straps of this Mares BCD also ensure high comfort and provide a perfect and comfortable fit around the chest and shoulders. 

Despite its ultra-lightweight design, the jacket does not compromise on comfort features, such as a high-quality integrated weight system with a quick-release function.

Mares BCD with Ample Storage Space and Excellent Buoyancy

Storage space is not lacking in the Mares Magellan, thanks to the roll-out cargo pockets on the right side.

As with many other Mares BCDs, the large buoyancy bladder of the Magellan can also be detached from the harness to ensure optimal freedom of movement.

The inflator of the BCD is a classic Ergo-inflator that fits well in your hand and is easy to operate, just like the classic jackets known from all dive training.
